Empire State Building beautifully illuminated for endangered animals

Director Louie Psihoyos, and producer Fisher Stevens of Oscar-winning documentary The Cove, transformed New York City’s Empire State Building into a touching homage to endangered animals.
Working with Obscura Digital’s co-founder Travis Threlkel, they illuminated the Empire State Building on a Saturday night in August from 9pm to 12am seamlessly to project for change.
Animals projected included Cecil the lion, who made headlines internationally for being hunted for over 40 hours, as well as a black rhino, a humpback whale, and a bald eagle.
The projection came to life with the help of 40 stacked, 20,000-lumen projectors and compliments Psihoyos’ upcoming documentary titled Racing Extinction.
